Asset management is one of the most influential roles in institutional real estate, yet it remains a career path that many valuation professionals know little about. Asset managers are responsible for turning investment objectives into property-level strategies, overseeing leasing, capital planning, risk management, financing decisions, and value creation throughout an asset's lifecycle. For AACI-designated appraisers, the role represents a natural extension of many existing skills while opening the door to new professional opportunities within pension funds, REITs, private equity firms, investment managers, and major real estate owners.
In this webinar, a panel of experienced asset management professionals will discuss what asset managers do, how the profession is evolving, and why it is becoming an increasingly attractive specialization for valuation professionals. Through real-world examples and personal career stories, participants will gain insight into the skills required for success, the differences between appraisal and asset management, and how expertise in valuation, market analysis, and real estate economics can serve as a foundation for a transition into the field. Whether you are looking to diversify your practice, expand your career options, or better understand the perspective of many of your institutional clients, this session will provide a valuable introduction to one of real estate's most strategic and rewarding disciplines
