Phase 1 – Real Estate as a Professional Career
Designed for entry-level students who want to become registered in Saskatchewan to provide real estate salesperson or property management services, this course addresses foundational topics such as the legal framework for real estate services in Saskatchewan, professional ethics and liability, land ownership and title registration, valuation and financing in real estate, and the fundamentals of agency and contract law.
ELPR
English is the language of contracts in Saskatchewan and the language of instruction for real estate education in the province. While there are no pre-requisites to register in the Phase 1 course, the English language proficiency requirement (ELPR) must be satisfied before you can register for an exam and if registration is your intention we strongly recommend that you consider satisfying the ELPR prior to Phase 1 course registration. Phase Progression
Once students successfully complete Phase 1, they can register in all Phase 2: Real Estate courses at the same time (should they choose to do so) or the Phase 2: Property Management course.
Phase 2: Real Estate
Phase 2 – Residential Real Estate as a Professional Career
Designed to provide the residential real estate specialty content for those students who wish to become registered in Saskatchewan to provide residential real estate trading services, and includes such topics as representing the seller and the listing process, home types, construction and measurements, the residential contract of purchase and sale and representing buyers.
Phase 2 – Commercial Real Estate as a Professional Career
Designed to provide the commercial real estate specialty content for those students who wish to become registered in Saskatchewan to provide real estate trading services, this course provides an introduction to commercial real estate and investment and addresses such topics as leasing, business brokerage and industrial real estate.
Phase 2 – Farm Real Estate as a Professional Career
Designed to provide the farm real estate specialty content for those students who wish to become registered in Saskatchewan to provide real estate trading services, this course provides an introduction to agriculture in Saskatchewan, and includes such topics as climate, soil and water considerations; farm specific legislation; environmental concerns and agricultural properties risk management.
Phase 2: Property Management
Phase 2 – Property Management as a Professional Career
Designed to provide the property management specialty content for those students who wish to become registered in Saskatchewan to provide property management services, and addresses such topics as leases and tenancy agreements, tenant selection and mix considerations, operations management and the property management plan.
Phase 3: Office Management & Brokerage
Phase 3 – Real Estate Office Management and Brokerage
Designed for students who are already registered (or have been registered) and want to become brokers, associate brokers or branch managers, this course provides specialty content on such topics as business planning and operations, financial accounting and human resource management.
Continuing Professional Development
Continuing Professional Development
Registrants are required to complete mandatory CPD, or continuing professional development, every year by May 31. This is a mandatory condition for continued registration within the province of Saskatchewan.
The Real Estate Reciprocity Information Material
The Real Estate Reciprocity Information Material
The Real Estate Reciprocity Information Material is a set of course materials approved by the Commission for students who have been or are eligible for registration in another jurisdiction. Upon qualifying for reciprocity from another Canadian jurisdiction, the applicant is required to obtain and review the Real Estate Reciprocity Information Material and sign a declaration in accordance with Commission Policy.
