Recognition of Professional Development Courses
Many real estate practitioners seek out Professional Development courses to fulfil continuing education requirements for their designations and professional associations. UBC’s CPD courses meet the continuing education requirements for many organizations, including:
- Appraisal Institute of Canada's Continuing Professional Development (AIC CPD) Program. See credit hours for each course in the list below. Credits for live Webinars can be found here. During registration, Members may select to have credits automatically uploaded to AIC, or Members may self-report to AIC.
- BC Real Estate Association Professional Development Program (PDP).
For other associations or organizations, students are advised to confirm approval and recognition before enrolling. Please note that these courses do not qualify for credit for UBC degree, diploma, or certificate programs.

Professional Development courses range from one to four lessons, typically three to five hours of work per lesson. Registration for new students typically takes one business day, existing students can login and get immediate access to their online course materials immediately after they register.
Self-Study Courses
Self-study courses range from one to four lessons (typically 3-5 hours of work per lesson). In a self-study course, the student reads course materials either online or in a printed workbook provided by mail. All courses include additional supplementary materials online, as well as a video of a past webinar. The student proceeds through the course content at their own pace and, when ready, completes a 20-question multiple choice online quiz. The quiz must be successfully completed within one year of enrolment in the course.Live Webinars
Professional development courses are periodically offered in a live webinar format. Webinars are generally available in November/December and at other times during the year subject to demand. Find out more about live webinars here. -

UBC's Advanced Studies in Real Estate program offers real estate professionals an opportunity to return for further in-depth study in specialized real estate topics. Students complete further BUSI courses in property development, appraisal, assessment, management, or brokerage to gain further academic recognition for advancing their studies into these additional areas of expertise. The ASRE program is primarily aimed at graduates of UBC's Diploma in Urban Land Economics. Graduates of other equivalent real estate programs are also welcome. Visit the ASRE webpage for more information. Each BUSI course is eligible for 12 AIC CPD credits.

The Reserve Fund Planning Program (RFPP) is a national program designed to provide real estate practitioners with the necessary expertise required to complete a diversity of reserve fund studies and depreciation reports. The program covers a variety of property types from different Canadian provinces, offering both depth and breadth in understanding how reserve fund studies are prepared for condominium/stratas and other properties.
