Meet our graduate student ambassadors

Akio Murakami - MBAN
Currently I am pursuing my second master’s degree, in Business Analytics at UBC Sauder. I did my undergraduate in Industrial Engineer at Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru. Then I obtained my MBA degree at Kellogg School of Business. I have broad and diverse experience of more than 20 years, working in large organizations and in entrepreneurial adventures, with a common pattern, innovation and transformation, by identifying opportunities and transforming them into value for organizations and clients. I define myself as a 3D person, dreamer, designer and doer, in all dimensions, my personal and family life, my career and professional role, and my legacy to the world.

Bhavana Rao - FTMBA
Hey I am Bhavana, a food scientist and a chemical engineer with a decade of experience in food, cannabis and natural health product industries. Working in various roles in different industries and countries highlighted to me the gaps in my education on the business side of things. So I decided to come back to UBC to do my second masters! Although I haven’t performed in a few years I consider myself as a dancer. I have been practicing dancing with led lights and fire pois lately. Since I moved to Vancouver I became an avid hiker and I love camping. I make my own dehydrated camping food. Recently I am attempting to learn skiing with my classmates at the MBA program.

Cyril Ndudi - FTMBA
I am a University of Ibadan alumna, with a master’s degree in ecology & environmental biology and a bachelor’s degree in Zoology. My professional experience is in retail and commercial banking where I worked as a Product Manager and a Data analyst. I decided to take the MBA program as an avenue to pivot into the technology industry and to expand my experience from the financial service sector into Technology. I chose UBC because of the quality of its professors and the school’s strong alumni network in Canada. I am an avid volunteer with a passion for child education and mental and physical well-being. I love to connect with people and in my free time, you can find me bingeing movies.

Gunveer Dubey - MM
I am a driven and ambitious individual from India with a background in Computer Engineering. With over 1.5 years of professional experience in consulting in the field of decision making and analytics, I chose to pursue the MM program at Sauder UBC, Vancouver to further develop and hone my business and managerial skills. I also have volunteering experience, and have worked for non-profit organisations both domestic and global to create a pragmatic difference in the world. In my free time, I enjoy playing and watching sports, exploring vibrant cuisines and cultures, and listening to music.

Jeff Clumpus - FTMBA
I began my career as an aerospace engineer in Ottawa, a city that is proudly known as the coldest Capital on earth, which I can confirm as I used to skate home (on ice!) after nights out in February! In my career I had the privilege of working and living in many different countries including China, the UK, the US as well as some remote areas of Canada. My goal is to become an executive for a major airline, and I chose UBC Sauder for its high caliber professors, diverse student community and proximity to world class skiing resorts!

Junyi Gu - MBAN
I’m a dedicated current student of Master of Business Analytics at UBC Sauder. I achieved a degree in science during my undergraduate with a dual degree in management, so I decided on my career journey as a data analyst and pursued further study in MBAN, combining the technical and business sides. I’m glad I chose UBC Sauder because they concern not only with students’ academic performance but also their physical and mental health, giving me a sense of belonging. Before my onboarding, I received much support in housing, networking and study permit. I enjoy my free time reading books and travelling.

Ken Yung - MBAN
This is Ken from MBAN. Before coming to study, I was an internal auditor in Hong Kong and I did my bachelor in accounting with HKUST. What a transition, right?! It is not really a surprise as my profession is getting more digital and data focused. I knew I needed to up my game to be competitive. I didn't think twice to come to UBC because of the reputation of Sauder and the beautiful campus here. In my leisure time, I enjoy hiking and outdoor activities so Vancouver is really the spot for me!

Mahta Amanian - MM
I am a UBC Sauder Master of Management student and UBC Science alumna from Vancouver, Canada. After receiving my BSc in Microbiology & Immunology, I wanted to continue learning, meet diverse groups of people, and gain new perspectives. The MM program was the perfect opportunity for me to integrate my science background with business to enhance my knowledge and meet my career goals. UBC Sauder is dedicated to student learning, growth, and development, and I am very happy I can continue my studies on the campus I call home. In my free time, I enjoy cycling, crocheting, and exploring BC.

Sean Adair - FTMBA
Originally from Los Angeles, I was fortunate to have a career in hospitality that allowed me to live in Denver, Whistler, Dallas, and the land of the Pura Vida – Costa Rica. What fueled my decision to attend UBC? My desire to live in the pacific northwest as I love the outdoors and the laid back west coast vibes! My friends call me Shef – a play on the words “Sean and Chef” – with fresh sourdough bread being one of my specialties.
