Centre for Operations Excellence

Founded in 1998, the Centre for Operations Excellence (COE) is an internationally recognized operations research (OR) centre based in the Operations and Logistics division of the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia.

We are dedicated to providing value to business and academia through projects with industry and research on applied OR methods. We have published many research articles and completed over 100 industry projects with major corporations in nearly every business sector. Some of these projects have been featured in the national media and have won best practice awards at OR conferences. In 2015, the COE was the recipient of the UPS George D. Smith Prize, “awarded to an academic department or program for effective and innovative preparation of students to be good practitioners of operations research.”
