Course Structure

Your grade will be based upon the work you have done during the course and on a final examination. Your final grade will be determined as follows:

Multiple Choice Assignments – 10% (in total)
Projects/Written Assignments:
 Project 1: Real Estate Decision Analysis – 15%
 Project 2: Demographic Forecasting and Psychographic Analysis – 10%
 Project 3: Evaluating Alternatives – 25%
Final Examination – 40%
Total – 100%

Please note: as of January 1, 2016, a final examination has been introduced into this course. In order to pass the course, you must obtain a minimum grade of 50% on the final exam and a minimum overall course grade of 60%.

Recommended Reading

Hanke & Wichern, Business Forecasting. Pearson. This book provides additional background and depth on statistical forecasting methods. Students interested in reading this material are encouraged to purchase a copy online – the most recent version is the 9th edition published in 2008.

Statistical Software (recommended, not required)

Lessons 7 and 8 illustrate the use of statistical software in forecasting applications. The BUSI 460 course workbook is written using SPSS. This is provided for illustration purposes only – SPSS use is not mandatory. Students wishing to purchase SPSS should see the statistical software page for information on recommended software versions and purchasing instructions.
