Self-assessment tools
The first step in developing any successful career is to get a clear understanding of your strengths, aptitudes and aspirations. We provide you with access to self-assessment tools that will help you clarify your career direction. Throughout the program, coaches will help you develop and work through a personalized career development plan.
One-on-one career coaching
As a UBC MM student you will be assigned a professional career coach. Your coaching relationship begins at orientation, continues throughout your time at Sauder, and carries into your future career. You’ll get one-on-one advice and support to develop your unique professional brand, explore your career options and make powerful connections with potential employers.
Jobs board and resources
Once admitted to the MM program, you will have access to Career Options On-Line (COOL), Sauder’s jobs and events database. Through COOL, you can view and apply for job opportunities, schedule interviews, and sign up for events and coaching appointments. You will also have access to Canvas, an online learning platform that connects you to a Career Development course and other valuable resources at the Business Career Centre.
Networking and recruiting events
The Business Career Centre invests significant time and resources to develop relationships with employers, from dynamic start-ups to big global brands. As an MM student you’ll be able to participate in:
- Company information sessions
Dozens of companies host recruiting sessions on campus throughout the school year. These events are a great way to learn about different businesses and job opportunities and network with prospective employers.
- Industry Exchange events
Meet a number of different companies within same industry and get a sense of what different career opportunities and businesses look like in that sector. The career centre hosts several events each term with all kinds of industries, including marketing, entrepreneurship, supply chain, finance and high tech.
- Alumni mixers and employer receptions
You'll have a number of opportunities to network with alumni and employers at cocktail receptions during the year. - Trek Vancouver
Explore the Vancouver job market by visiting companies across a wide range of industries and meeting with management and executives.
- Student-run events
Career-related events and conferences are also run by the MM Society.
