Strengths and Weaknesses of the Blockchain Technology (co-hosted with HKUST)

Date and Time:  October 27, 6pm PST

Why is blockchain, a distributed ledger that is transparent, decentralized, and invariable, important for business? What are the disadvantages of blockchain? How is blockchain used beyond Bitcoin (and other cryptocurrencies)? How will it impact you?

In this session, the speakers will review the strengths and weaknesses of the blockchain technology and its applications in various economic sectors. The session will conclude by identifying some challenges faced by blockchain applications.

Speakers: Carson Woo (Stanley Kwok Professor of Business, University of British Columbia Sauder School of Business) and Kai-Lung Hui (Elman Family Professor of Business, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Business School)
