Demystifying the Numbers

August 18, 2020 at 12pm PST

Ever noticed how your monthly/yearly financial information package including financial statements and accounting reports only seems to grow in both complexity and volume? If you’re like many managers, making sense of the numbers is troublesome. Not sure where to start, not sure what to look for, never really understood basic accounting concepts & terminology, not comfortable talking to your accounting department. Sound familiar? Let us reduce the frustration and focus on improving your understanding of financial statements and your ability to analyze and identify financial concerns & trends. The sooner problems are identified, the quicker remedial action can be undertaken. Increase your confidence and your effectiveness as a manager!

Speaker: Scott Sinclair (Lecturer, Accounting and Information Systems Division at UBC Sauder School of Business)

Leadership & Character During Challenging Times

August 25, 2020 at 12pm PST

A part of exercising leadership involves building trust in others while acting with integrity and authenticity. During these times of uncertainty and constant change, effective leadership also requires us to act in time. To do this, one must draw on their core values in order to mobilize others. By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

• distinguish oneself from the various roles

• reflect on one’s personal narrative and values

• align ones purpose with organizational values

• identify ways to build trust and instill hope in others

Speaker: Adel Gamar (UBC Sauder instructor and CEO of Gamar Leadership Group)
