UBC Diploma in Accounting Program

Overview

How the program works

UBC DAP courses are offered on a year-round basis during the winter and summer semesters (4 terms in total) of UBC's academic year. All 11 core-courses are offered during both winter terms and during at least one summer term.

All courses are delivered in-class at the UBC Point Grey campus, and select courses are offered in-class at UBC Robson Square (downtown) and online.

Students enrolled in UBC DAP can take a maximum of 5 courses in each winter term (September and January) and up to 3 courses in each summer term (May and July).

Students can enjoy the flexibility of finishing the program in as little as 12 or as long as 24 months while continuing to work full-time or part-time.

A bridge to professional accounting

Every aspect of UBC DAP is designed to optimize the student experience, giving students access to academic support, offering career guidance, and providing students access to exclusive networking opportunities with top accounting employers.

Officially recognized by the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia (CPABC) and the CPA Western School of Business (CPAWSB), UBC DAP provides students the opportunity to acquire the prerequisites required to enrol in CPA's Professional Education Program (PEP) at one of Canada's most respected universities.

Whether you are short one course or all 14 CPA prerequisites, your UBC DAP experience will lay the foundation for professional success.

Faculty Spotlight

Mary-Chong

Mary Chong

BCom, MEd, CPA, CA

After a successful 18-year career in audit and taxation at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Mary Chong chose to leverage the mentorship skills she developed on the job and become a full-time accounting instructor. Having joined UBC DAP in 2008, she thrives on the fact that the program is constantly evolving in response to technological change and the demands of the business environment. Mary is passionate about teaching and seeing her students learn and grow, so it's not a surprise that she has been a recipient of the UBC DAP Teaching Award on multiple occasions. Students respond to her energy and her belief that each student brings a different perspective to the classroom and is uniquely capable of making a valuable contribution to society.

Career support beyond the classroom

UBC DAP will open the door to a wide range of career opportunities in public practice, industry, not-for-profit, and government. By taking advantage of UBC DAP career-building workshops, one-on-one career coaching, and networking events connecting students with top employers, you'll learn how to take charge of your career and achieve your professional aspirations and goals.

"I chose UBC DAP because it catered to people with non-accounting undergraduate degrees like me, and it was a compelling and direct route to mygoal  of becoming a CPA."
