A new partnership between the UBC Sauder School of Business and Executive Education HEC Montreal will see the two schools leverage one another’s expertise on a local and a national scale by offering program exchanges – benefiting professionals and organizations alike through expanded learning and professional development opportunities.

"This partnership will allow both UBC Sauder and Executive Education HEC Montreal to give access to an even richer and broader expertise,” said Serge Lafrance, Director of Executive Education at HEC Montreal. “By combining the knowledge of two of the country’s top business schools, professionals and organizations can feel confident knowing they are receiving programing from the top experts in their subject area.”

The first program exchange took place in Vancouver on June 28-29, 2018, when professor Dr. Francois Bellavance and instructor François Labrie from Executive Education HEC Montreal delivered a course in ‘Big data and artificial intelligence’, on behalf of UBC Sauder. A course on ‘Design thinking’ will be forthcoming.

Later this year, Dr. Darren Dahl, Senior Associate Dean of the UBC Sauder School of Business, will travel to Montreal to teach ‘Understanding the consumer for better marketplace success’ on behalf of HEC Montreal, and Chris Obst will teach ‘Strengthen your leadership by increasing your personal energy.’

The partnership will also enhance the Canadian Executive Education landscape by providing national custom professional development programs in both languages.

“Organizations have told us they want the ability to develop custom programs that can be delivered nationally to their employees,” said Bruce Wiesner, Associate Dean, Executive Education at UBC Sauder School of Business. “Through this innovative partnership we are addressing this need and demonstrating a core aspect of our programming, our consultative approach to needs analysis and design.”

HEC and UBC Sauder are two of the oldest business schools in the country and are both part of a distinguished group of Canadian business schools that are accredited by AACSB, a leading body for business school accreditation worldwide.
