UBC Sauder alumni recognized as Entrepreneurs of the Year

Three UBC Sauder alumni have been recognized by BCBusiness and Ernst & Young (EY) as amongst the top entrepreneurs in the Pacific Region at the in the 25th annual EY Entrepreneur Of The Year awards, including former Faculty Advisory Board member, Christian Chia, who was named the Pacific Region Overall Winner.

Judges evaluate the nominees based on several factors, including vision, leadership, innovation, financial performance and social responsibility.

The 2018 winners from UBC Sauder are:

Pacific Region Overall Winner and Winner in the Business to Consumer Category:
Christian Chia (BCom ‘91)
President and CEO, OpenRoad Auto Group

Technology Category (Runner Up):
David Gens (BCom ‘09)
Founder, President and CEO, Merchant Advance Capital

Emerging Entrepreneur Category (Runner Up):
Ian Crosby (BCom ‘08)
Co-founder and CEO, Bench Accounting

The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year is an annual global awards program administered by Ernst & Young. The Pacific Region overall winner is one of five regional winners who compete for Canada’s EY Entrepreneur Of The Year; the Canadian winner advances to an annual competition, held in Monte Carlo, that sees World Entrepreneur Of The Year chosen from among 60 country winners.
