Since 2012, the UBC Sauder Centre for Social Innovation & Impact Investing (Sauder S3i) and Coast Capital Savings Credit Union have been helping entrepreneurs make significant contributions to Canada’s social enterprise landscape through the Coast Capital Savings Innovation Hub (iHub).

Now, the successful social venture accelerator program is embarking on a new journey with entrepreneurship@UBC (e@UBC) through the e@UBC Impact Stream. The new collaboration will focus on building and funding new entrepreneurial ventures aimed at resolving the world’s most challenging social and environmental issues with solutions that are both commercially viable and socially responsible.

The Impact Stream is the third addition to e@UBC’s ecosystem and the first to focus on social and environmental issues; the program’s other two verticals, ‘Life Sciences’ and ‘Core Tech,’ are tasked with creating new ventures in human health and tech-based products.

e@UBC offers scalability

Through iHub’s transition from UBC Sauder to e@UBC’s university-wide entrepreneursial platform, early-stage ventures will now be able to engage with a range of ideas and contributions from faculty, staff, students and recent alumni across multiple disciplines at UBC.

With over 800 UBC venture teams registered, e@UBC currently offers programs and support for all stages of venture creation, from ideation through to business model creation and company building. The program provides seed funding, guidance from resident executives and access to over 100 mentors with industry expertise amongst other benefits.
