Professor Shunsuke Yagi is welcomed as the first Visiting Professor of the Peter P. Dhillon Centre for Business Ethics at UBC Sauder by the Centre’s Interim Academic Director Dale Griffin and its Executive Director Christie Stephenson. He will be at UBC Sauder until the end of February 2018.
Yagi hails from Otemon Gakuin University, where he focuses on corporate sustainability. Prior to his current position as Otemon Gakuin University’s Business Administration Head Professor, Yagi completed his graduate work as a student of Kyoto University – one of the most reputable academic institutions in Japan. As a student, he completed both his Bachelor and Master of Sciences Degrees in the field of Agricultural Economics, and his Doctorate in Natural Resource Economics.
Prior to receiving his PhD in 2011, Yagi received a research excellence award in 2006 by the Sustainable Management Society of Japan. In 2011, Shunsuke was also awarded the society’s ‘Society Contribution Award’ for the research journal publication titled, ‘Modern Corporation and Sustainable Management.’ Shunsuke has published 40 articles and 10 books, ranging from topics such as environmental management and strategy to corporate social responsibility.
Aside from his research engagements at Otemon Gakuin University, Yagi teaches courses including Business Administration, Environmental Management, Corporate Social Responsibility and Business and Sustainability.
During his time at UBC Sauder, Yagi will focus on new research but has already been actively meeting with members of the UBC Sauder community.
The Dhillon Centre is delighted to have Yagi as the Centre’s first Visiting Professor to gain from his expertise and to build ties between the Centre and the academic community in Japan.
