You are invited to join Darren Dahl, Senior Associate Dean, at the UBC Sauder School of Business, for a conversation on the changing landscape of business through innovation and social impact. He will be joined by special guest Tamara Vrooman, President & CEO of Vancity.
Under Tamara Vrooman's leadership, Vancity became the largest private-sector living wage employer in Canada, the first carbon-neutral financial institution in North America, and the first Canadian financial institution invited to join the Global Alliance for Banking on Values - an independent network of the world's leading sustainable banks and banking co-operatives. All this earned Vancity an invitation from the Vatican to participate in a summit about creating a more inclusive economy.
Tamara achieved all this while growing the assets plus assets under administration of the credit union 61% to $25.6 billion and achieving the highest profits in the organization's 70-year history. Under her direction, more than one-fifth, or $5.4 billion, of Vancity's assets plus assets under administration are invested in impact.
Before joining Vancity, Tamara served as Deputy Minister of Finance for B.C. from 2004 to mid-2007, and as a Secretary to the Treasury Board, as well as Deputy Minister and Executive Financial Officer for the Ministry of Health. She is also currently on her second term as a member of the advisory board at UBC Sauder's Peter P. Dhillon Centre for Business Ethics.
