Dr. Daniel Muzyka reappointed Dean of the Sauder School of Business at UBC for a second term

Vancouver – On the recommendation of President Martha Piper, the Board of Governors of the University of British Columbia has approved the appointment of Dr. Daniel Muzyka as Dean of the Sauder School of Business for a second term. He was first appointed in 1999.

Under Dr. Muzyka’s dynamic leadership the Sauder School of Business has significantly enhanced its reputation as a leading center for the creation and application of management knowledge.

During his first term, the school recruited over 30 new faculty members; launched an International MBA program in Shanghai and Part-time MBA program in Vancouver; and played an instrumental role in establishing UBC’s downtown presence at Robson Square.

Dr. Muzyka has been enormously successful in improving job placement, co-op and internship opportunities for the School’s students, building relationships within the local, national and international business communities and reconnecting with Sauder alumni around the world.

He has been a strong and effective advocate for the School, bringing increased funding from major gifts and endowments as well as from tuition increases. His efforts were crowned by the remarkable naming gift of $20 million from Dr. William Sauder, BCom 1948, in June 2003.

Dr. Muzyka has a BA from Williams College (Astrophysics), an MBA from the Wharton School (Corporate Strategy), and a DBA from the Harvard Business School. Prior to joining the Sauder School of Business, Dr. Muzyka was the IAF Professor of Entrepreneurship at INSEAD (France), where he also served as Associate Dean of the MBA program and Director of the 3i Venturelab. Dr. Muzyka was previously a faculty member at Babson College, and was a visiting professor at the Harvard Business School.

Dr. Muzyka has previous experience in finance and corporate strategy at the General Electric Company, and spent five years as a strategy consultant, primarily with Braxton Associates (Boston). He has also served as a board member for several entrepreneurial and growth business ventures.
