Dr. Daniel F. Muzyka, Dean of the Sauder School of Business elected Chair of the Vancouver Board of Trade
Vancouver – Dr. Daniel F. Muzyka, Dean of the Sauder School of Business at UBC and RBC Financial Group Professor of Entrepreneurship, was officially appointed Chair of the Vancouver Board of Trade at the organization’s Annual General Meeting on June 16, 2005.
In his keynote address at the AGM, Dr. Muzyka outlined his goal to build a vision for Vancouver for 2025.
"There is no question in my mind that the most successful regions in the world, in the globally competitive economy, are regions where everyone agrees on where they are trying to go," say Dr. Muzyka. "Everyone doesn't have to agree what approach to take to get there, but the final destination should be a common goal. Over the next year, I plan to start a dialogue that will have us look at what Vancouver and B.C. will be like in 2025."
Dr. Muzyka has a BA from Williams College (Astrophysics), an MBA from the Wharton School (Corporate Strategy), and a DBA from the Harvard Business School. He will begin his second term as Dean of the Sauder School of Business in July.
Prior to joining the Sauder School of Business, Dr. Muzyka was the IAF Professor of Entrepreneurship at INSEAD (France), where he also served as Associate Dean of the MBA program and Director of the 3i Venturelab. Dr. Muzyka was previously a faculty member at Babson College, and was a visiting professor at the Harvard Business School. He is the first academic to be appointed Chair of the Board of Trade in the organization’s 118 year history.
Dr. Muzyka has previous experience in finance and corporate strategy at the General Electric Company, and spent five years as a strategy consultant, primarily with Braxton Associates (Boston). He has also served as a board member for several entrepreneurial and growth business ventures.
