Betsy Ng (BSc '10)
Co-Owner and Founder,
Elephant Garden Creamery

Betsy Ng is the co-owner of Elephant Garden Creamery, located on Commercial Drive in Vancouver, BC. She opened the shop with her brother, Bruce, in September 2018.

After graduating from UBC, Ng worked at different food companies doing quality assurance, but the dream of opening a dessert shop was never far from her mind. She began doing research into ice cream manufacturing, and eventually decided to enroll in an ice cream manufacturing course in the U.S., followed by a gelato-making workshop in Italy to take her passion further. Like most young entrepreneurs, she realized she needed a specialty in order to shine in a crowded field and sought to create original flavours as a draw for her customers.

Elephant Garden Creamery (EGC) produces artisanal ice cream in small batches with love and care. The unique flavour lineup is kept multicultural to appeal to all and to reflect Vancouver’s diverse and delicious food community. EGC’s scoops of joy will surely bring delight at first lick!
