The corporate governance landscape is rapidly evolving in the face of internal and external pressure from investors, stakeholders, activists, and regulators for more sustainable ESG focused governance models. This talk will explore the changing responsible investing landscape, including challenges and opportunities on issues such as climate change, governance codes, and public disclosure matters.
Ravipal Bains is an Associate at McMillan LLP, where he focuses on the fields of mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and corporate finance in Canada. In 2019, Ravi was recognized as one of the “Emerging Leaders” by the M&A Advisor. He is also well-known as a frequent author, having been featured in a number of national and international publications. He has interests in the current trends of sustainability and transformative technologies and has presented his research at several academic institutes.
Ravi is an active member of a number of business organizations, including the Business Council of British Columbia, the Association for Corporate Growth, and the Canada Climate Law Initiative’s inaugural group of governance experts. Ravi is a graduate of the University of Ottawa, and also holds an undergraduate degree from Panjab University, India. Born and raised in rural Punjab, Ravi also has extensive experience as a clerk at the High Court of Punjab and Haryana and at one of India’s premier business law firms.
