At a minimum, managers need to understand the information contained in the financial statements, to understand how others are viewing and assessing their actions. At an intuitive level we know that the reporting of financial statement information leads to economic consequences to the firm and to its management. Managers need to be aware of these consequences and be able to anticipate them when making business decisions.
This course in the MBA program will assist students in how to use the financial information contained in financial statements to make better decisions. The emphasis will be on interpreting and using the financial statements as opposed to how to prepare them.
