Current Students

Some of the most important people in a PhD program are your colleagues. The PhD program at UBC is comprised of a diverse group of students from around the globe, each with a unique set of skills. The program fosters a cooperative atmosphere where students with different skills help one another to succeed. 

Our PhD students are supportive of one another and emphasize the collective success of the group. All of our students make a conscientious effort to help new students acclimate to doctoral student life. Below is a list of our current students and their backgrounds and interests.

 Johannes
Johannes Boegershausen

Johannes has an undergraduate degree in Business and Economics from the Catholic University of Eichstaett-Ingolstadt, Germany, and a Master’s in Strategic Marketing from Maastricht University, the Netherlands. His research interests include social cognition, marketplace morality, and polarized sentiments.

Nathan Beloud (Dhaliwal)

Nathan has a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of British Columbia. His research focuses on the evolution of cooperation and includes topics such as: punishment, moral judgment, reputation, partner choice, leadership, and prestige.

Rishad Habib

Rishad has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh and a MSc in Marketing and Consumer Studies from the University of Guelph. She joined Sauder’s Marketing PhD program in 2016. She is interested in consumer morality, prosocial behaviour and social norms.
 Chuck Howard
Ray Charles "Chuck” Howard

Chuck holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Finance from Ryerson University. His primary program of research uses a combination of lab experiments, field experiments, and secondary data to uncover the psychological causes of consumer financial misprediction, design simple cognitive tools that improve consumers’ financial prediction accuracy, and understand the consequences of misprediction. In his secondary program of research Chuck uses similar methods to reveal and neutralize sources of bias in moral judgment and decision making.

Xixi Hu

Xixi has a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics and Actuarial Science from University of Waterloo and an MSc degree in Statistics from University of British Columbia. She joined Sauder’s Marketing PhD program in quantitative modeling in 2018.
Ekin
Ekin Ok

Ekin has an undergraduate degree in Political Science and a Master of Arts degree from Sabanci University. She is also a graduate of the Master of Management program at Sauder, and joined the PhD program in 2016. Her research interests include social influences in consumer judgment & decision-making and goal pursuit.

 Miremad
Miremad Soleymanian

Miremad has a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s in Industrial Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in Iran focusing on Statistical Process Control. He received his second Master's degree in Statistics from University of Florida. He joined Sauder’s Marketing PhD program in quantitative marketing at 2014. He is interested in bayesian statistics, dynamic marketing models and customer relationship management.
 Brendan
Brendan Strejcek

Brendan studies authenticity and morality. Prior to graduate studies, Brendan was a software engineer, writing code to automate the management of backend servers.

 
Wade Wade

Wade has an undergraduate degree in psychology from Brigham Young University. He began his PhD at the Sauder School of Business in 2016. His research interests include consumer-brand relationships, time perception, and prosocial consumer behaviour.

Qiyuan has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Wuhan University. He joined Sauder Marketing PhD program in 2016. His major research interest lies in empirical modeling.

Zining has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Beijing Foreign Studies University and a Master’s degree from Erasmus University. She joined Sauder’s Marketing PhD program in 2018. She is interested in digital marketing, cause marketing, econometric models and machine learning.

Fan has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Sun Yat-sen University and an Mphil degree in Industrial Engineering and Logistics Management from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She joined Sauder’s Marketing PhD program at 2016. She is interested in quantitative modelling.
