Project Methodology

Learning and Technology Services follows a three-phased methodology to manage projects:

Evaluate

The project  team researches and documents the current and proposed state, develops requirements and high-level specifications, determines the best alternatives and recommends a solution. The Evaluate phase will recommend a Build or Buy solution. Following approval of the Evaluate phase, the project team moves to Build.

Build

This phase involves detailed design and development of an application or website and /or it may involve the procurement of software. Regardless of the Build-or-Buy decision, the software needs to be integrated into the Sauder and UBC software and infrastructure environments. This phase includes the set up of business rules and user administration access and ”skinning” the application or website to give it the Sauder brand look-and-feel. During the Build phase, there is an iterative and ongoing review with clients and users of software capabilities and business requirements.

Deploy

In this phase, the application, website or service undergoes User Acceptance Testing and is launched into production. Training and communications programs are implemented. Once the Project Sponsor approves the completion of the project, it is handed over to the business area for ongoing operation.
