Manager, Real Estate and Leasing Vancouver Island Health Authority

Summary
Reporting to the Director, Capital Planning, you will be managing real estate and leasing services at approximately 150 locations for VIHA. This position is key to ensuring programs are appropriately accommodated to meet their goals and objectives; providing advice to senior decision-makers on real estate and leasing services, developing business cases, negotiating leases, real property and other key contracts, and managing tenant improvement projects. As manager, you will be responsible for managing the VIHA lease budget and initiating on-going cost saving measures and developing new revenue opportunities. Travel is a requirement of this position and will require the use of a personal vehicle.
Your specialized knowledge of commercial real estate practices and procedures, commercial lease documents, property management practices and procedures, real estate appraisal methods and practices and construction standards/costing is essential in this role. You can demonstrate your strong negotiation skills, initiative, good judgment and decision-making capabilities. You prudently manage and balance corporate budgets effectively. A natural leader and problem solver, you are well organized and can implement and manage change initiatives and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues.
Qualifications
Your credentials and experience are equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline such as Business Administration, Urban Land Economic plus a professional designation supplemented with 7 years recent, related, experience in all phases of commercial real estate projects including familiarity with legal contracts, real estate transaction issues and real estate appraisal. Real estate work and negotiation experience within both private and public sector entities is a key asset.
