MM in OR Class: 2010-2011
Hometown/Country: Sherwood Park, Canada
Current Position: Operations Analyst
Organization: AeroInfo Systems, a Boeing Company
My COE Project: Commercial and Defense Data Analysis: A Pilot Study on Performance-Based Logistics for AeroInfo Systems
My project with AeroInfo Systems, a Boeing Company focused on identifying an appropriate forecasting methodology to predict operational availability for a fleet of aircraft operating in a performance-based logistics (PBL) environment. Leveraging the maintenance record history for a fleet of military aircraft, my COE team conveyed the shortcomings of a time series forecasting approach in such a managed system. Second, we delivered an alternative forecasting methodology centered on survival/reliability analysis that was more suitable to this PBL environment. This alternative approach not only enabled forecasting but also provided stakeholders with important information required to understand the key drivers of aircraft operational availability.
My MM in OR Experience
The COE and the MM in OR program not only equipped me with the technical skills required to succeed as an OR practitioner, but also equally as important, imparted to me the business and consulting skills required to effectively apply OR in the industry. The relationships developed throughout the project led to a job opportunity at AeroInfo Systems prior to graduation, where I have been actively involved in establishing an Analytics team within the organization.
