Candidates of the UBC IMBA program are carefully selected against competitive requirements to ensure that, once in
the program, you learn from peers who have demonstrated vision, leadership and experience. It is this approach
that helps make the UBC IMBA classroom experience dynamic, engaging and thought provoking.
Here is some information you need to know before applying:
A Bachelor's degree* with a 76% average or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution.**
* Generally, a four-year degree is required. Three-year Bachelor’s are accepted from Australia, New Zealand, U.K., and Europe. Refer to this for details on each country.
**If the applicant has sufficient professional experience or presents sufficiently high GMAT/GRE scores, a lower average may be accepted, subject to approval of the Director of the Robert H. Lee Graduate School.

|GMAT/GRE is required for applicants with weak or non-quantitative educational background.
||550 GMAT with at least a 50th percentile in the quantitative and verbal sections of the test or at least 150 GRE score on the verbal and quantitative section.
|Applicants must be required to speak, comprehend, and write fluently in English. An approved English proficiency exam is required for all candidates whose degrees are from a university outside Canada or the United States in which English is not the official language of instruction.

UBC IMBA application instructions
Please review the following three steps thoroughly before beginning your application.
Step 1: Complete the online application and pay application fee.
- A non-refundable $125 fee in Canadian currency is required prior to the application being processed. The electronic application requires payment of an application fee using MasterCard or Visa only.
- All information can be entered directly on the application, and you will have the opportunity to save your changes and revisit the application until you are ready to pay the fee and submit the application.
- You may complete your online application anytime before the final application deadline.
Note: If you have applied last year, you will need to create a new application with a new email address. Logging back into the application system with your last email address will bring up outdated application information, and your application will not be reviewed for this year's cycle.
Step 2: Keep records of your application
- Retain a printed copy of your application for your records.
- When you click 'Submit this Application' at the end of the application process, you will receive a confirmation letter. You may also check the current status of your application online. Your current application status will appear at the top of the first page after you enter your email address and password.
Step 3: Submit all supporting documentation
Applications are not reviewed by the admissions committee until all of the following required supporting documentation is received in official form:
- Official transcripts in sealed university envelopes (plus official English translations if transcripts are not issued in English by the home university). UBC graduates do not need to submit UBC transcripts as the Robert H. Lee Graduate School will access these through the Student Information System Centre (SISC)
- Original degree certificates in sealed university envelopes (plus English translations if certificates are not issued in English by the home university)
- Official TOEFL (program code: 0965) or IELTS (no code required - please send to UBC) scores. Official test scores should be received by UBC directly from the testing agency
- Official GMAT (program code: LQS-CP-94) scores. Official test scores should be received by UBC directly from the testing agency. GMAT may be waived for those applicants with considerable quantitative academic backgrounds
Important note regarding documents
All submitted application materials, including irreplaceable documents, become the property of the Sauder School of Business and will not be returned. Applications received or completed after the deadlines will be considered only if space is available.
If you have applied to our programs within the last two years, it is not necessary to submit new letters of reference and new transcripts unless you have undertaken further academic studies, as we retain all documentation for a two-year period.
