The UBC Diploma in Accounting Program (DAP) is a demanding credit-based program designed primarily to prepare university graduates who have limited training in accounting for entry into a professional accounting designation program. For individuals wanting to broaden their business skills, the program also represents an excellent opportunity for professional development.

DAP's intensive curriculum satisfies many of the course requirements for both the CMA and the CGA programs. As well, the program is officially recognized by the Chartered Accountants School of Business (CASB). Even if you lack the prerequisites to enter the CA program directly, you can fast-track your training by enrolling in the UBC Diploma in Accounting Program, before or after you have found employment with a recognized CA firm. For more information on the transferability of DAP courses to the various professional accounting programs, see the DAP Transfer Guide.

The DAP program offers courses through out the year. In the Summer Session, courses are offered on an accelerated basis and students have the opportunity to complete up to 6 courses between May and August. The summer program is organized to correspond with the business cycle of most accounting firms and thus for the convenience of articling students and their sponsors. In the Winter Session, students may take the program on either a full-time or part-time basis. Many of the courses are offered in the evenings to accommodate those students who are working. In most cases, the DAP program can be completed in less than one year.
