Judi Cunningham, Executive Director
Judi is a tireless champion for business families—both as founding Executive Director of the Business Families Centre at the Sauder School of Business, and as part of a second generation business family. Judi has been instrumental in developing world class programming for business families and she has pioneered a new field of study at the university level for professional advisors with the Sauder School of Business’ Family Enterprise Advisor Program.
Judi’s expertise in the field led to her appointment as one of the establishing board members and founders of the Institute of Family Enterprise Advisors—a non-profit association committed to the establishment of education and ethical standards for professionals advisors for the purposes of membership and professional designation. Judi has nearly twenty years of experience as an organizational development consultant, facilitator, leadership coach and marriage and family therapist.

Peter Cotterill, Business Development Manager
Peter is responsible for leading the sales efforts and developing strategic partnerships particularly around the Family Enterprise Advisor Program which is a pre-requisite for the Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA) designation. He has over 20 years of progressive sales and management experience having spent 14 years with a division of General Electric where he was responsible for leading their business growth in Western Canada. |

Angela Nielsen, Marketing Manager
Angela brings more than a decade of strategic marketing and public relations management to the Business Families Centre. Some of Angela’s previous positions include: Director of Marketing and Communications for Exro Technologies Inc., Director of Corporate Marketing for Playground Real Estate, Director of Public Relations for the Vancouver Aquarium. Angela studied Communications through the faculty of Applied Sciences at SFU for four years before graduating from Journalism at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. When she’s not editing ad copy, pitching stories to news editors, or preaching about the benefits of social media, you’ll find Angela planning events for the Centre including the annual Family Legacy Series Dinner Gala. |

Murtaza Chopdawala, Operations Manager
Murtaza is part of a third generation business family and an MBA graduate from the University of British Columbia. He brings expertise in financial analysis, process improvement and strategic alliances to his role as Operations Manager for the Business Families Centre. Prior to joining the BFC, Murtaza worked as a Technology Consultant with Atos Origin, an IT Services company having annual revenue of over EUR 5 billion. |

Emma Su, Content Development Manager
Emma Su plays a critical role for the Business Families Centre by developing tools to bridge the gap between research and practice in the field of family enterprise. Emma earned her Masters of Science in Business Administration from the Sauder School of Business at UBC, focusing on a variety of issues related to family businesses, including family business conflicts, succession, family business strategy, knowledge management in family business, and the role of culture in family businesses. Prior to joining the Centre as the family business content expert, Emma worked in various family firms in Asia for six years as a knowledge management leader |
