See youbc/Admissions for course requirements and to find out how your admission average will be calculated.
Documents required
- An interim transcript of your grades
- UBC online application – this must be submitted by January 31, 2012.
- Additional documentation – proof of English Language proficiency, SAT scores (for US students) and more may be required depending on where you’ve completed secondary school. Check with youbc/Admissions for more information.
Average required
Although we do not admit students solely on the basis of grades, academic performance is extremely important. Only applicants with an interim average of 84% or higher are eligible to be considered for admission. Please note that the course grades used in the calculation of your average will depend on where you are currently attending secondary school and the grading scale used by your school. All grades are converted into percentage grades based on a 50% pass scale. Detailed information on secondary school course requirements and equivalents for all applicants as well as information on how your admission average will be calculated can be found on the Undergraduate Admissions website.
Math requirement for admission to Year 1
All applicants applying to Year 1 of the BCom program must have completed or be in the process of completing Senior Level Math. For those completing a BC high school curriculum, the required math is Principles of Mathematics 12 or Pre-Calculus 12. Detailed information can be found on the Undergraduate Admissions website. While not a factor in the admissions decision, many students find that taking a secondary school calculus course helps them succeed in our first year Math course; it is strongly recommended.
