On April 24, UBC Sauder Alumni Engagement will be hosting Dr. Geoffrey Soloway to lead a workshop to develop tools for cultivating less stress, more joy and peak performance.
If you could take a pill that would decrease your stress and anxiety while improving your focus and performance - with no side effects - would you take it? Mindfulness produces the same results and is something you naturally possess the ability to learn. While mindfulness has roots in ancient wisdom traditions, today this form of mental exercise is a evidence-based training used in government, healthcare, education, business, sports and even military settings. Learn what mindfulness is, the science behind it, and the practical application in your daily professional and personal life. The presentation will be a blend of engaging content, interactive discussion and experiential exercises.
The good news is that resilience can be built and improved. This session provides research-based tips to help you build and protect your resilience and support the resilience of others, whether at work or in your personal life. You may be surprised at how applying some basic principles of cognitive behavioural research can produce positive results in your life.
- The science of mindfulness: what it is, how it works & why you need it
- How to reverse the stress response & build resilience
- Optimizing your bandwith with mindfulness
- Application of mindfulness in action
