UBC BizTech and the UBC Sauder Dhillon Centre are co-hosting a panel ethical issues facing the tech industry today. Experts will be covering diverse topics related to technology such as the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, environmental issues, job security in a market being dominated by automation, and IT security.

Speakers include:
  • Geordie Cree, who is Vancity’s Director of Enterprise Compliance & Security and Chief Privacy Officer. He has 20 years of information technology experience and is accountable for the development and implementation of Vancity’s integrated enterprise compliance and security framework
  • Tanya Ney, who has 20 years of experience in high-tech focused on software implementation, business development, and practice management. She is currently VP of Consulting Services at T4Bi, a company that builds custom enterprise business applications
  • Matt Toner, who is a local tech entrepreneur, innovative digital media producer, visiting professor, and politico in Vancouver’s innovation industry. He is currently the CEO of Biba Ventures Inc., a company that transforms any playground into a “smart” playground through your day-to-day touchscreen device, as well as the Deputy Leader of the BC Green Party

The panel will be moderated by Neekita Bhatia, a UBC Sauder student with a combined major in business and computer science.
