At "Business Before Pleasure" UBC Sauder alumni looking to develop a career in Hong Kong can gain insights from experienced professionals. The event will begin with a presentation on Networking Tips and Tricks followed by a Fireside Chat with guest speakers in Finance, IT, Consulting, and Human Resources.

Alexander Leung (MM 2012) - Moderator

Head of PR & Partnerships, Lamplight Analytics


Alexander started his career working in digital marketing agencies, most notably, Ogilvy & Mather, where he has worked with some of the world's biggest brands. He currently works at Lamplight Analytics, a notable Hong Kong social media start-up as its Head of PR & Partnerships. Alexander enjoys providing deeper knowledge on the APAC tech scene as a contributing writer to Tech in Asia, the region's largest online tech publication, where he covers founder stories, new co-working spaces and up-and-coming start-ups. 


Vincent Chung (BCom 2013) - Host and Presenter

Associate of Technology and Information Risk, Morgan Stanley


Vincent Chung Is an Associate of Technology and Information Risk at Morgan Stanley. He graduated from the University Of British Columbia- Sauder School of Business in 2013 with a Bachelor of Commerce double major Finance and MIS. Vincent gained extensive experience in quantitative analysis, management information reporting and project tracking while working with Standard Chartered Bank in Hong Kong as an Operations Analyst, and then in Kuala Lumpur as a Project Analyst. Extremely passionate about Information Technology and Finance, Vincent moved to his position as an Associate in Technology and Information Risk at Morgan Stanley in December 2014.  


Ho Yeung Liu

Senior Consultant, Endeavour Search Ltd


Ho Yeung is a Senior Recruitment Specialist at Endeavour Search Limited. He graduated from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2011 with a BBA in Management and Marketing. During his time in HKUST, Ho Yeung was the two-time recipient of the Management Scholarship. Since then, he has worked closely with leading Fortune 500 international firms in the digital/UX, management consulting and software development spheres on mid to senior level search engagements. With his extensive experience in the industry, he also provides strategic advice to client leadership about niche job market trends and solutions. Ho Yeung is also highly involved with senior team-building assignments, and has taken on increasing amounts of team-managements and company-wide training duties.


Angela Li

Associate, McKinsey & Company

 
Angela joined McKinsey’s Hong Kong office in 2012 as a Business Analyst. She has been engaged in diverse projects consulting multinational and local corporates, and organizations across China and Southeast Asia with focus on financial institutions and the public sector. Her topics of interest include market entry and growth strategy in emerging markets. Examples of her recent client work include designing and implementing a program with the government of Malaysia to spur exports among 50 high-performing SMEs, developing a health product strategy across 5 emerging markets in Southeast Asia for a leading global insurer, and devising a disruptive strategy to capture the Internet of Things opportunities for a leading semi-conductor player. Angela graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a BBA in Global Business Studies in 2012. In her personal time, she enjoys scuba diving, Muay Thai and creating internet memes.


Jeremy Cheng

Co-Founder, Maker Lab and Managing Director, 3D Forage Ltd.

 
Jeremy Cheng has 20+ years of experience in entrepreneurship, client services, IT operations, talent acquisition, and project management in both the United States and the Greater China Region. He’s the founder and managing director of 3D Forage, a Hong Kong based digital fabrication consultancy with a strong focus on 3D Printing adoption, and Metacentrix (MXI), a Seattle based international management consulting firm. Prior to his recent entrepreneurial endeavors, he led a team of senior and principal engineers in managing all of Microsoft’s research and development data centers worldwide. Aside from Microsoft, he previously served as the Director of IT at Imagekind, Inc and was actively involved in IT management strategy, business operations, web application architecture, and implementations. Before Imagekind, Jeremy was the Technical Services Manager at Vigilos, Inc where he managed the IT infrastructure and network-based enterprise security management systems in both production and development environments. Jeremy began his career during the "IT bubble" in the 90’s and holds a BS in Informatics and a BA in Economics from the University of Washington. He also holds a certificate for Information Assurance and Cyber Security from the University of Washington.


Kevin Lee (BCom 2007)

CEO, Genesis Gaming and Investment Director, Gallant Investment Partners


Kevin Lee is the CEO at Genesis Gaming, Hong Kong and an Investment Director at Gallant Investment Partners. He graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2007 with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) in Finance, Accounting and Economics, before completing his Masters in Finance at the University of Toronto, Rotman School of Management in 2010. Kevin has had extensive experience in Investment Banking, working with BMO, Citigroup and Standard Chartered, where his portfolio consisted of looking at M&A, valuation, LBO Analysis and Growth Capital. In 2015, he moved to become the Director of Corporate Finance and Strategy at Geoswift, and an Investment Director at Gallant Investment Partners, specializing in venture capital and private equity. As CEO of Genesis Gaming, a Gallant Investment Company, Kevin is in charge of all aspects of commercial operations, including strategy, business development, finance and marketing.
