The UBC Social Enterprise Club's annual innovation jam will host the five social ventures from the Coast Capital Savings Innovation Hub – all of whom will present real obstacles they've encountered for the attendees to solve.
DATE: January 29, 2015
TIME: 5:00 – 8:30 p.m.
LOCATION: DL009 Design Lab (Basement of Sauder's David Lam Building)
REGISTRATION: Open till January 29
ABOUT THE EVENT:
Students get the chance to collaborate and create solutions for real life problems, while providing an opportunity to make lasting connections with like-minded individuals and social entrepreneurs.
The featured ventures are: Arbutus Medical, which is making surgery safer in developing regions thanks to a sterile cover that turns a hardware store drill into an operating room tool; Wize Monkey, which helps coffee growers stay employed year-round by producing tea from coffee leaves; Time Auction, which offers the chance to bid volunteer hours to meet inspiring leaders; BioClens Environmental, which is easing the hassle of Vancouver's mandatory composting with a probiotic cleaning service and a compostable compost bin; and Brands for the Heart, which helps social ventures bootstrap their way to an inspiring brand.
Businesses who register receive pre-event publicity to MBA students at both campuses and advanced publication of MBA level internships and full-time opportunities to both online job boards.
THIS EVENT IS FREE TO UBC SOCIAL ENTERPRISE CLUB MEMBERS AND $10 FOR NON-MEMBERS
