The Management Information Systems Division at the Sauder School of Business was in the spotlight at the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) in Milan in December.

The flagship annual conference for academics and practitioners in the information systems discipline attracted close to 1,500 people from around the world.

At the event, the Best Research-in-Progress Paper Award went to Associate Professor Hasan Cavusoglu for his paper, “Early Mover Advantage in an Industry with Low Entry Barrier: Evidence from Etailers on Third Party eCommerce Platforms.” ICIS is a highly competitive conference for academics, with an acceptance rate for submitted papers of only 10 to 15 per cent.

Professor Izak Benbasat was applauded as the most-published author in the field’s premier journal MIS Quarterly, with 30 papers published since its first edition. MIS Quarterly is widely regarded as one of the top business journals in the world.

Associate Professor Ron Cenfetelli picked up an award for his work with MIS Quarterly, named Outstanding Associate Editor of 2013 from among 37 editors on the board.

“The significance of these achievements speaks to the research reputation of the MIS Division relative to peer groups throughout the world,” says Cenfetelli, who chairs Sauder's Management Information Systems Division.
