Guangdong Senior Personnel Training Program
Sauder School of Business is pleased to be in a partnership with the foreign affairs office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province in developing a one-year training program for the senior administrative personnel of Guangdong Province. This initiative seeks to address needs in the sectors of government, science and technology, education, finance, and industry for the 21st century.

This five year cooperative program is a result of the ongoing friendly relations and economic cooperation between Canada and China and the sister provinces of Guangdong and British Columbia. The cooperative agreement was signed on November 9, 1999 during the Canadian trade delegation visit to Guangdong led by the Honorable Raymond Chan, Secretary of State (Asia-Pacific) and included Grace Wong, Assistant Dean, International Programs, Sauder School of Business and Stan Hamilton, Academic Director, China Programs.

The ten senior provincial government officials studied customized seminars on business and intercultural communication skills and global business communication, audited MBA modules, undertook a research project, participated in site visits and met a network of corporate guest speakers.

Ningbo City Senior Personnel Training Program
Sauder School of Business is pleased to have cooperated with the Ningbo Friendship Associations in developing a special eight-month training program for the senior civil servants and administrative personal of Ningbo Municipality. This initiative addressed human resources development needs of Ningbo government for the 21st century. The program included specially designed classes on English and Intercultural Communication Skills, Urban Planning and Management topics, industry visits and interaction with the BDC business and government communities.

Program participants included 19 senior civil servants from Ningbo municipal government who studied at UBC from October 2001 until the end of March 2002.
