Title: Sauder S3i Graduate Fellow (2010)
For 10 years, in both Montreal and Vancouver, Brigitte Gemme has sought answers to the question of how education, science, technology, and society interact with and shape each other. Brigittte has conducted research on the training of scientists and technicians in post-secondary education and, in an earlier project, studied the careers of students of computer technology during and after the dot-com boom. Currently, her PhD is focused on graduate education in the field of Forestry and, in particular, explores existing research in response to environmental, political, and economic needs. Brigitte expects to graduate in 2009 and hopes to pursue work at the interface of research and decision-making, promoting the use of knowledge to improve research practices.
