Mario was born and raised in the Philippines where he has extensive experience in both social impact innovation and the capital markets. He started his career as an investment banker and was a key contributor to numerous deals that raised over USD 10 billion for top Philippine corporations, public- private partnership (PPP) projects, and the Philippine government. He later moved on to lead business development for a social enterprise wherein he helped promote financial inclusion in rural areas through mobile technology and innovative finance. Being well-versed in the fields of finance, public policy, and developmental strategies along with a desire to serve the public good and shape his country’s future he then worked for the Mar Roxas presidential campaign.
He is currently an MBA candidate in the Sauder School of Business and is expected to complete his degree in December 2017. Over the summer, he will be working as an impact investing intern for Sauder S3i where he hopes to bring a dynamic perspective to the field of social innovation.
