Title: Manager - First Nations Economic Development
Lerato Chondoma is the Manager of First Nations Economic Development research at Sauder S3i. Prior to moving to Vancouver, Lerato practiced as an attorney in South Africa and Lesotho, specializing in Labour Law and Employment Equity. She has several years experience in stakeholder management, law, legal consulting as well as First Nations Economic and Social Development. Most recently, Lerato worked with non-profit aboriginal organization, Ahp-cii-uk Community Society as a community liaison and the Executive MBA in Aboriginal Business and Leadership as an associate. She has worked with several multi-national corporations across a wide range of industries including professional services, mining and resources, telecoms, construction, government relations and education.
Lerato has a B.Com and a LLB from Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa and a MBA from the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University. She enjoys working with Aboriginal Peoples in BC, with particular interest in the value of social innovation and social enterprise for First Nations. Lerato also enjoys working with Aboriginal Youth around BC, encouraging their expression of identity using slam poetry, hip hop, spoken word and other forms of popular urban culture.
