Sauder S3i receives grant for social entrepreneurship pilot project

James Tansey, associate professor and executive director of Sauder research centre Sauder S3i, recently received a grant from UBC’s Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund for the project, “Social Entrepreneurship: Business of Change Social Enterprise Impact Program.”

The project aims to provide students with opportunities to use business skills learned in the classroom for social purposes that address challenges, such as poverty, climate change and financial distress. It consists of a social enterprise internship program, where students gain hands-on experience with social enterprises and entrepreneurs, as well as a social entrepreneurship competition, to be launched in Fall 2011.
