Sauder S3i executive director becomes international advisor for 2014 Winter Olympics

Associate Professor James Tansey, executive director of Sauder research centre Sauder S3i, is one of four international advisors working with the United Nations Environment Program to help the Sochi Olympic Committee develop a comprehensive environmental strategy. The strategy will focus on waste management, biodiversity, public engagement and the delivery of a carbon-neutral Winter Games.

Tansey will participate in two delegations in Sochi in the next four months. Drawing on experience from the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, he will work with the UNEP to produce an environmental strategy that will guide the three years leading up to the 2014 Winter Olympics.
