Professor Emeritus Bill Waters, a Sauder School of Business Professor since 1969, passed away in 2010.
During his tenure at Sauder, Professor Waters was the Director of the Centre for Transportation Studies. He was also one of five persons (and the only academic) commissioned to review Canadian transport legislation and policy directions. This review produced a report entitled Vision and Balance which was tabled in Parliament in July 2001. As an extremely accomplished transportation economist, he was widely published and frequently consulted by governments on matters related to transportation policy.
He received the Distinguished Member Award from the Transportation and Public Utilities Group of the American Economics Association, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Transport Research Forum.
W.G (Bill) Waters II is a great friend and former colleague to many. Donations in his memory should be made to the heart and stroke foundation: http://www.heartandstroke.bc.ca.
