Duncan developed Concepts and Practice of Technical Communications, the foundation course in Simon Fraser University's Technical Writing Certificate Program, and has taught the course twice annually for the past 22 years. In 2004, he developed an online version of the same course, which he now facilitates twice annually. Other courses taught at SFU include Document Management Standards and Practices, Writing Revisable Manuals, and Career Opportunities in Technical Writing. He is a long-standing member of the steering committee for the Technical Writing Certificate Program. He has presented the Workshop, Sharpening Your Writing Skills to the Institute of Chartered Accounts of BC for the past 18 years and 3 years to ICA of Alberta.
Duncan has also authored two books on writing: Writing Revisable Manuals: Print and Online, and Sharpening Your Writing Skills: a Workshop for Business and Technical Writers.
